Your Web Site Design Should Keep Visitor Experience A Priority
Design is important when building your website . the reason why this is so important is because the look and feel of your website is the reason why people will want to return to your site on a regular basis.
Website designers call the basic elements of your website the look and feel aspects of your site. If your website visitors are turned off by the look and feel of your pages they will not likely return and they will not recommend your site or bookmark it. That is why design is important when building a site.
Navigation is also important when you are planning to design your website. There is nothing more aggravating than fumbling with a websites clunky navigation. Java scripts and rollovers are nice features to add to your navigation, but if they are hard to understand or counterintuitive than they are really useless and will take away from the user's experience. Remember you want people to easily be able to navigate your pages. Bad Website navigation is the primary reason that people will not return to a given site. So try to remember this when you're planning your design. Ask yourself is this user-friendly? Will a first time visitor be able to figure out how to get around my site?
Images are also very important when designing your website. Make sure your images are user-friendly for not only broadband users but also for your dial up users. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to wait for a page to finish loading because of giant image sizes. Do those images really add to the user experience? Or are they there just for looks? Scaled down your image sizes for quick loading pages on your website. Also you should always check your design in different web browsers. Pages that look good in Internet Explorer may look terrible in Mozilla Firefox or Opera. A good way to check this is to make sure you have several browsers installed on your machine. Another thing to watch for is to check your page is in different resolutions. Not everyone has the 22 inch LCD display on their desktop. Many users will probably view your page on a smaller screen such as a 15 inch laptop LCD. Frames are also a very important aspect of page design. Many users even today will quickly navigate from a page that uses frames just because of the aggravation and work involved when viewing the site. If you're selling something on your site make the look and feel of your design simple yet beautiful. It doesn't need to be complex in order to achieve a great user experience. Another thing you can do is ask your visitors to bookmark your site. Many people would do this just because you asked them and they will return at a later time. This is true especially if you add new content on a regular basis to your site. Webpage design is not a complex thing to worry about. Just worry about the ease of use for your visitors and the stickiness of your content and you'll get many return visitors.
